L&I SERVICES

Elevate Counseling provides mental health counseling and Behavioral Health Intervention (BHI) services for workers' compensation clients in Washington. We are here to help you navigate your healing journey with the support and guidance you need.

Behavioral Health Intervention (BHI) 

• The BHI program provides short-term, solution-based counseling to address recovery barriers and to support your return to work.

• Your attending physician’s referral is required, but prior authorization from the L&I Claim Manager is not needed for the initial 16 sessions. An additional 8 sessions can be requested if needed, but require approval from the claim manager.

• This program is suitable for anyone who does not have or is not contending a mental health diagnosis related to their injury. Clients with a mental health diagnosis should go through Mental Health Services and not the BHI program.

Mental Health Services

• For clients with an accepted mental health condition your attending physician needs to submit a referral to the L&I Claim Manager for prior authorization.

• If a mental health condition has not been accepted, you may be required to go through a mental health assessment with an L&I psychiatrist or psychologist before a referral is made for mental health services. 

• We must receive an authorization letter from your L&I Claim Manager before we can start treatment for L&I Mental Health services.
